Commercial Window Cleaning - Resort World Birmingham (B40 1PU)

Wide view of the glazed frontage at Resort World Birmingham with the service van on the approach

We cleaned the glazing at Resort World Birmingham, the leisure and entertainment venue on Pendigo Way, Marston Green, B40 1PU - inside and out, on 15 June 2026. The job came through the site’s facilities-management contractor - the same FM company that hired us for the post-construction window clean at The Phoenix Collegiate a month earlier - and covered the floor-to-ceiling curtain-wall glazing, the terrace glass balustrades, and a flat rooftop skylight. A specific kind of dirt accumulates on a busy lakeside public venue: atmospheric grime, hand smudges at door height, and film on the glass facing the water.

Project Overview

  • Client: Facilities-management contractor for Resort World Birmingham (repeat commission - our second job for this FM client)
  • Where: Resort World, Pendigo Way, Marston Green, Birmingham, B40 1PU
  • Date: 15 June 2026
  • Scope: Internal and external window cleaning - curtain-wall glazing, entrance and bar frontages, terrace balustrade glass, rooftop skylight
  • Method: We cleaned the external glazing with a water-fed pole with pure water; pressurised rinse on the rooftop skylight; ladder access for frame-height detail work

The site, honestly described

This was no extraordinary project - and that’s the point of the page. It was just maintenance cleaning on a large glazed venue. The floor-to-ceiling panels around the main frontage and The World Bar were covered by a light film expected on a busy public building: traffic and atmospheric grime, finger marks from thousands of hands, streaking on the panels facing the terrace and the lake.

The challenge came from the size of the project. Long stretches of tall glazing in dark aluminium framing, glass balustrades surrounding the outdoor terrace, and a flat skylight at roof level that a domestic-style clean always skips. The venue didn’t close, so we didn’t close anything; we worked around furniture, signage, and foot traffic.

How we worked

Using pure water and a water-fed pole system, we cleaned the external glazing. First, we did brush agitation and continued with a clean rinse, working panel by panel. Pure water doesn’t leave marks when drying, which is important on such big panels. On a three-metre pane, it’s impossible to hide a missed streak. No scaffold was used, and we didn’t disrupt the entrances below - we reached the upper sections of the curtain wall from the ground with the pole.

To flush the grime off the glass, we did a pressurised rinse of the rooftop skylight at roof level. Because flat glazing retains water and dirt differently from vertical panels, additional flow was needed.

We used a ladder to work on the frame-height detail and the tighter sections. Interior faces got an external pass and manual cleaning, so we cleaned both sides of the glass on the same day.

Results

  • Across the venue frontage and terrace, we used pure water to wash and rinse the external curtain-wall glazing, bar frontage and balustrade glass.
  • We rinsed the rooftop skylight clear - afterwards, the terrace and signage reflect clearly.
  • We cleaned the interior glass on the same visit, so the panels were spotless on both sides.
  • Most of our filming focused on the work itself; the clearest final image is the terrace seen through the cleaned glazing, and we’ll get a fuller after-set on the next visit to the site.
