Industrial Facility and Extraction System Exterior Cleaning - AJB Group, Corby (July 2025)
A comprehensive exterior clean at AJB Group's timber processing industrial facility in Corby (NN17), completed in July 2025. The scope covered the extraction tower and associated ductwork/pipework, metal cladding across multiple elevations, accessible roof zones, and surrounding hardstanding areas. All surfaces were pressure washed and treated with DDAC anti-algae solution, with access managed using a combination of ladder work and telescopic pole equipment.

The Challenge
Industrial processing facilities accumulate contamination differently to standard commercial buildings. At this site, the extraction tower and associated pipework/ductwork had built up a layer of industrial grime, dust, and organic growth that was clearly visible against the metal surfaces. The cladding across the main building elevations showed typical weathering - algae streaking, general soiling, and discolouration that worsened on shaded faces.
Working around the extraction system added complexity. The ductwork runs at various heights and angles, creating areas that are harder to reach and clean effectively. Height constraints meant that some sections required ladder access while others were managed using telescopic pole equipment from ground level. The facility was operational, so all work needed to be planned around site activity and safety requirements.
The surrounding driveway and hardstanding areas had also accumulated significant grime, oil staining, and organic growth from regular vehicle and plant traffic.
Our Approach
- Setup and access planning - We surveyed the site to identify the safest and most effective access methods for each area. The extraction tower and higher cladding sections were planned for ladder and telescopic pole access. Work zones were agreed with the client to minimise disruption to ongoing operations.
- Pressure washing - cladding, roof, and extraction system - Metal cladding across all accessible elevations was pressure washed to remove algae, soiling, and weathering. The extraction tower, ductwork, and pipework were cleaned using a combination of direct pressure washing and telescopic reach equipment to cover the full height and angles of the system. Accessible roof zones were also cleaned where safe to do so.
- DDAC anti-algae treatment - After cleaning, all surfaces were treated with a DDAC-based anti-algae solution. This helps to slow the return of organic growth on the metal cladding and extraction system, extending the time between maintenance cleans on an industrial site where conditions promote rapid regrowth.
- Driveway and hardstanding cleaning - The surrounding concrete hardstanding and driveway areas were pressure washed to remove embedded grime, oil staining, and organic growth. These areas were also treated with DDAC to slow regrowth on ground-level surfaces.
Results
- Extraction tower and ductwork cleaned of industrial grime and organic growth
- Metal cladding restored to a cleaner, more uniform appearance across all elevations
- Accessible roof zones cleared of algae and soiling
- Driveway and hardstanding areas pressure washed and treated
